No set back after oil change, they say OK?
Hi - Yes after the oil change due to a year reached without one, THEY said the 3500 to service indicated was correct because all they did was change the oil and it had 3500 left until the full service check which I must go back for?? (free service anyway for 35000m)
Some members say THEY sometimes simply forget to set the service miles back. I wonder if anyone has run into a "no oil change in a year - miles driven less than 15K" where the service was not set back? OR did THEY simply forget for me too. |
If you get an oil changed based on time, they don't reset miles, so you will get another one when CBS calls for it.

Took my wife's car for service.
They did a "low mileage oil/filter change". Mileage was at 22k. Previous change was just over a year earlier at 16k. Service paperwork actually states 'CBS NOT RESET' due to low mileage service. CBS still indicates 9500 for next service/oil change. At least in my case it was explained why no reset. Wife-09-335i vert-Plat. Taking my wifes car in tomorrow, it will be getting the yearly oil change; its only been driven about 8k miles this year... Now here's the rub... It no longer under maintenance, so this oil change won't be free and the next one won't be either (only reason i am having it done at the dealer is because its CPO and i want to keep the maintenance trail up to date... Once its out of CPO coverage, ill do it myself). Anyway, question is, do you think they will reset it, or leave it?

But if you didn't say anything, my guess is they would NOT reset it since the CBS is not stating that it's due.
But I have played the free oil change game pretty well. My car has 21K on it and have received 3 free oil changes (2 free annuals, 1 CBS ) at around 5K intervals since owning the car from May 2010. It just works out with amount of miles I drive. My CBS shows about 9000 miles remain today. I can take my car in for it's free annual anytime after 1.15.13. So I will take it in Jan/Feb for a freebie, then in the CBS will be ready to change in about another 7500K. The system has worked flawlessy for me but but I do understand not everyone only drives about 8500-9000K miles a year. After 48 months I figure I will have received ~6-7 free oil changs. OK in my book! |
Thanks
Thanks for the info all, I'll just accept the extra oil change. D
