satellite radio install
I am considering buying and installing a satellite radio device (sirius xm device) for my 2006 z4. It has an auxillary which is currently set up with an adaptor for my Ipod. Can I install the radio using the aux and if so, do i need to install the outside antenna?

Using an accessory Sirius XM radio through the AUX port would be the simplest and cheapest way to go. You will need an external antenna (most of the accessory receivers come with one). If mounting it outside is inconvenient, you could put the antenna on top of the dashboard.

I actually have installed one in my 04 and it works fine. I ran the antenna around the floor on the passenger side through the back and under the trunk lid and it sits between the top and the trunk on the 3 inch section of body work, I can post pics. I don't have an aux jack and I use the FM transmitter funcion, which is a bit of a PITA when travelling because you always end up having to change the FM station to avoid interference but withthe aux jack you are golden. I am actually trying to sell mine right now as I only drive the car a short distance now and don't get the time on it, although I know I am going to miss it. If you are interested check out my CL ad at I'll let you have it for 50 and I'll ship it, then all you have to do is call them and transfer the service over to you. I have everything you need and more, actually I think there is enough bits and peices to install it in 2 vehicles and just move the head unit.

Let me know

I'm running a basic SiriusXM radio (XM Snap) that plugs into the cigarette lighter and outputs to AUX. I ran my antennae through the firewall and attached to the front right quarter panel. At first I had my antennae on the dash but reception wasn't greatest so I moved it to the exterior location. Much much better.
