Electric outage!

This morning i was unable to open my doors with the remote nor open my trunk with the key....i opened the door with the key and nothing would turn on, no welcome lights, radio, engine, nothing!! ....while i was waiting for my jump i figured id go back in the car since it was raining and guess wut? it freaking started right up like nothing ever happened...i had to reset the clock and stuff...20 mins later while on the highway it just literally stalled on me with all the warning lights flashing and it kept doing it for about 30 mins or so...as i got out of it tonight all the power shut off again without me being able to close the car with the remote so i had to close it with the key....Wuts going on?

SPARK NOTES
1. no electrical power to the car
2. 20 mins later it starts like nothing happened
3. stalled on me on the highway a couple times
4. parked it tonight and once again lost all electrical power :dunno:'

SES LIGHT P1434 Code had came on 2 weeks prior to this.

Consider having the battery and connections checked. Google the P-code.

Might consider posting this on an X5 forum. We is E39ers here.

To echo what Ed said, start here for diagnosis:
- How to test a BMW E39 battery & alternator (1)

CUT-AND-PASTE TEACH-to-FISH RESPONSE FOR classic no information threads:
Sample information:
  • Mein auto: 2002 BMW 525i/M54 auto
  • List the DTCs found (e.g., P00m, P00n)
  • Also list the one-line description of those DTCs (don't force us look it up for you!)
  • Explain which debugging steps you followed (they all have 'em)
  • Explain your debugging test results

For the record, its been 6 months now i own e39 M5. My profile picture in LeMans blue is it :) and also thank you guys but i found the issue. The previous owner had installed new "better" amps and what not, (which i am not a fan of) and it had an outage. Right when i disconnected the amp from the positive wiring on the battery, the car worked fine afterwards. Now i need to go to a stero specialist since i have no speakers connected.

Since it's been 6 months now...help us help you better by clicking on USER CP and changing your "Mein Auto" to reflect what you currently have/drive...or if you still have both...add what you now own or sold to your signature so that it's clear to those responding to your posts what vehicle you are referring to. :)

This not only helps you get better replies...it also helps those of us that may have to look up information specific to your model/model year...can do so without having to add information/data that doesn't apply to you due to a change during the production run. It also helps others, in the future, that have your model/model year wade through what's useful & non useful when using the search feature. :)

Again, placing your car's details in a signature really helps us to help you better as well as helping the forum in general. :)
