RFT vs Non-RFT Air Pressure Question
 
The Basic question I want to ask is:

Should PSI be higher on NON RFT's compared to similar spec RFT's?

I got 18" staggered wheels on my e90 and I recently put on Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

User manual states I should run 36psi front/42psi back for extra load. I ran this on my old NITTO NON RFT Tires (Softer tire from what I experienced) and the fronts had shoulders wear off noting that they were under inflated.

I wonder 36/42 is for RFT's and if I should run higher for these NON RFT Michelin PSS's.

Street, naw.

I get best results at BMW owner's manual recommended psi.

What they said. The type of tire does not affect the recommended air pressure. btw - there's virtually no way that 36/42 is going to result in an under inflated situation.

I actually DROPPED my pressure by 2 PSI front and rear. I noticed my Michies were not using the outsides of the tread.

Softer ride with no noticable change in handling.

Short answer: RFs and non-RF tire pressures are guided by the same tire/load/pressure standards according to U.S. standards: The U.S. Tire and Rim Association. There is NO difference. Size-for-size, RFs and non-RFs carry the same load and have the same PSI requirements.
