New Software Update for Hesitation/Tip-in

Just got the latest software update yesterday for the hesitation issues. It was just released earlier this month. So far, big improvement. Acts like a normal car now. Just hope the adaptive BS doesn't mess it up. Time will till. I will post the update number when I get my paperwork from the dealer. There were two updates issued. Same software update for both, but issued for different build dates.

Needsdecaf 12-16-2012 09:57 AM

Yes, please do post the update. My car just got a huge software update, but that was a few weeks ago. I'm not sure if that was part of it or not.

shawnsheridan 12-16-2012 11:03 AM

Do you have copies of the SIB's?

Thank you for the info. What type of F10 do you have, and what is her build date?

NeedsDecaf, correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you said that your latest update still didn't yield acceptable results in resolving the "tip-in" issue.

Shawn, I love how you sniff out these threads a mile away :D. You are a F10 scientist!

No, tip in was not improved. However, I'm not sure if it was intended to address such or not. My car wasn't in specifically for that.

My W/O says "reprogrammed vehicle with ISTA/P version 2.48.1".

No I don't a copy of the SIB yet. As soon as I get it, I will post it here.

I have a 2011 528i, built 11/10. There was one update for build dates up to 12/10 I think, and the other one was for build dates after that.

These updates were for the hesitation issues only, did not include anything else.

I had the "Global" update done when it came out and it did improve things for a while but it eventually went back to the way it was, if not worse.

I have driven about 100 miles so far and it acts better than the "Global" update. Crossing my fingers it will stay that way.

Do you know then what the minimum ISTA/P version specified in the SIB is or what version they used to program your car, or what Integration Level they brought your car up to?

2.48.2 just came out. If you still have the issue with 2.48.1, hopefully the SIB's are calling for 2.48.2, but I am doubtful based on it was just released.

I don't have any paper work yet, so I really can't answer your questions.

My son-in-law is the SA for BMW and Porsche at the local dealer and he told me that they got the software updates for the hesitation issues at the end of November but he wanted me to wait to install it until they got their new programming software which they got on 12/10 if that helps with your questions. He keeps me abreast of all the new updates and keeps my car up to date with the latest and greatest. I will show him this post and see if he can get me the info you are looking for.

I had my 2011 528i done last week it is very much improved. The paperwork they gave did not show what version but I downloaded profile from idrive and it shows F001-12-07-520.The tip-in hesitation is gone but like others said I hope the adaptive drive does'nt take over and bring it back. I am trying to be aware of how I drive it from a stop and not start like a "granny" to create a memory in it.

F001-12-07-520?

Something is clearly not right. There is no way your car updated last week got a July Integration Level instead of a Novemeber Integration Level, not to mention I have no record of a F001-12-07-520 Integration Level:

ISTA/P 2.47.0 F010-12-07-531
ISTA/P 2.47.1 F010-12-07-531
ISTA/P 2.47.2 F010-12-07-531
ISTA/P 2.47.3 F010-12-07-531
ISTA/P 2.47.4 F010-12-07-532
ISTA/P 2.47.5 F010-12-07-533
ISTA/P 2.47.6 F010-12-07-533
ISTA/P 2.47.7 F010-12-07-533

The November ones are:

ISTA/P 2.48.0 F010-12-11-501
ISTA/P 2.48.1 F010-12-11-502
ISTA/P 2.48.2 F010-12-11-503

So, either you read or wrote that down wrong, or the Profile .xml file is incorrect, which I have seen before.

In any event, we still need to know what the SIB states in order to know specifically which cars are affected.

Here is what is in my profile i-step>F001-12-07-520< here is the whole readout:?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

When you export your profile to a USB Drive, you can open the .xml file, and you will see something like this:

?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
bmwExportData>
signedContent>
header>
date>2012-04-30T20:32:16
version>1
username>ALEX
vin>C8****7

i-step>F001-12-03-511
/header>

In theory, the i-step shown is your current Integration Level, but it has been known to be wrong.

Yours too...something is fishy...

ThreeI 12-16-2012 07:42 PM

Hold on, for some reason I can seem to cut and paste.

chuck92116 12-16-2012 07:44 PM

I don't believe any of this.

If someone can produce a document that clearly states the software update addresses a tip in issue, I will change my mind.

Until then there is no evidence that BMW has acknowledged an issue. For the last 10 years folks have complained about drive by wire claiming undesirable drive response at times. Nothing has changed with any of the models that I am aware of .

ThreeI 12-16-2012 07:48 PM

Still won't let me cut and past right.

PeterC4 12-16-2012 07:51 PM

Versions

When my car was delivered it had F010 11 09 505 and now it is F010 12 07 533 after my dealer updated software in July. It is a 2012. I determined this using the coding software with Shawnsheridan's help. You may have had an update, but if those are the references you read, it doesn't seem current. The one thing I noticed was that the update solved the fluctuating idle at start-up, but I never seemed to have a pronounced "tip-in" problem. I now have a JB4 Stage 1 tune so it would be even more difficult to tell as to what the software update did.

Some people assert it is the transmission, but I'm not sure anyone knows.
