BMW 525i flooded e39
2 Attachment(s)
I just purchased this car as a parts car but before I start taking it a part I thought why not try to get it started may be I can keep it since I love the color on it ...

2001 BMW 525i 112k miles

Car was flooded but the seller claimed that the water only reached the bottom seats ..I bought the car didn't even had a battery.. Now I don't know where to start should I attempt to put a battery and try or should I do something else ?

It looks like someone tried to fix it because by the glove compartment all those computers are already disconnected and the engine oil seams to be clean carpet is kind of dry the front is dry the back is not ..

Please advice me where to began

I would make sure that water is still not inside the vehicle, check the fusses, and even remove spark plugs so in-case the water got into the engine, you wont be throwing rods...

The battery was probably removed by the last owner. Did u buy it privately? How much did u pay if you dont mind me asking?

Change the oil before anything. If there's water in the oil you'll spin a bearing before you can shut it down.

The E39 oil dipstick tube has 1 single o ring at the bottom of the tube where it meets the pan.

There is a fuse box under the front passenger seat--if you hook up the battery and turn everything on and that box has water in it--it will fry a mess of wires before you can shut it off--check and see if all is well there before more damage is done
