(2003 z4 3.0i) battery light

My car was down for about two weeks waiting for my new starter to arrive in the mail. After installing the new starter I noticed that my battery light had came on. I ran errands throughout the day and the battery light would turn on occasionally on different start ups. I hooked up my trickle charger over night to ensure I had a full battery the next day. Same thing. Battery light stays on at about every other start up. The battery is currently at 12.8v and 14.1 with the vehicle running. Any ideas as to why this is happening? The numbers seem about normal to me if I'm not mistaken.

The positive battery power travels from the battery to the jump start terminal, then to the starter, and finally to the alternator. Since you were at the starter, check your main terminal connection to ensure it is tight. Looks like it can be difficult to get to. I do not know if the wiring at the starter is 2 separate round terminals or one round terminal with both wires crimped in. If one round terminal with both wires, wiggle the wires and ensure one isn't loose at the crimp. If all is ok there, check the connections at the jump start terminal and also the back of the starter. I have replaced several BMW alternators that charged cold, then quit hot. http://www.tooltopia.com/lisle-32150.aspx I use one of these in the lighter socket with a voltmeter connected to monitor actual charging voltage while driving. Hopefully just a loose connection.

And it's fixed! The positive terminal to the starter was a smidge loose. The termilas felt tight but I was able to get another half a turn tighter on the nut. Thanks for te input :)
