Yet another e30 cup holder on eBay, new, from Bulgaria
Oh, I'm going to get thrashed for posting this, but here goes.
I'm not willing to put 100+ hours into making a new console for my e30. I will buy something and have it look not as good as something I might retrofit, though. I found this on eBay and am wondering if anyone has tried it out? Looks like it might get in the way of the e-brake on an e30. But... sure would be nice not to have a wet lap every now and then. :) http://www.ebay.com/itm/ARMREST-CENT...item415ff89880 or this one... http://www.ebay.com/itm/170863053859...84.m1438.l2649 Any feedback? Are they junk? |
both look to be ok. cupholders and big center consoles only work if your car is an automatic tho. other wise you will be punching or elbowing them.

Those both look like poo bro.
Are you looking for more storage or a cupholder? Because one had just storage. There is a real cheap, tidy and functional solution using 3/8" SS rod bent to shape and tack welded to a small plate. |
For $24 I would give it a shot (the one with the cup holder). The thing looks huge - like Steve said, it will interfere with shifting and make driving not so much fun. You may get used to it though.

center consoles on ebay for e30s
Good point. As seeing as how I am 6'4" tall, I already drive with the seat pushed all the way back - practically in the back seat. In fact, I don't know if a toddler could even fit behind me. An 86 pound Doberman can, though.
I think that a few large blocks of wood are in order, along with a pillow and some other things to see how it would feel if I did occupy that space with an armrest. Like most other people, I think, I would rather have something OEM, but it just doesn't exist, and never will. I suppose I could buy one just for the experience of installing it and posting the pics here. I have already been thinking I would make a bracket that fits under my ebrake console so I don't have to drill and holes in my car or console. Thanks for the thought... you make have saved me sixty bucks.... Quote:

I am guessing it is not going to look good. I best solution imo is a boat style fold out cup holder mounted to the passenger side of the center console

Just a heads-up about that eBay seller "boloromo". I bought a shifter knob from him. The eBay posting said the item was located in London. I assumed it would ship/mailed from there. It wasn't. It came from Bulgaria and took over 6 weeks to make it through the mail. It was OK quality, not great but a lot better than the tattered knob I had. IF you buy from him, make darn sure it's being sent from Great Britain and not Bulgaria, or it may be 2 months+ before you see it, considering it was 45 days to ship a 3" x 3" x 3" box that weighed only ounces.
