Water in rear passenger footwell

Whilst hoovering out my car I noticed that the rear passenger footwell on the left hand side of the car was very very wet, all other area are fine.

I couldn't find any DIY threads on how to resolve this issue. Has anyone else experienced this with their 7s, if so how was this resolved.

Anyone out there who has seen or experienced this?

I would rather try and fix this then take it to the dealers.

Still no response, strange as surely I cant be the only 7 series owner who is experiencing this?

Any way after some digging around and looking at other post on bimmerfest (e39, e46, x5, x3)and other forums, there are 2 possible causes to water gathering in the rear passenger foot well.

1 - a build up of dirt and gunk under the pollen filters in the engine bay, where water builds up in the pan and then overflows into the vents and through the vents under the seats.

2 - clogged hoses in the sunroof.

I have checked point 1, taken off the pollen filters and arm which is held on by a bracket on both sides. I didnt find any pools of water or any dirt build up (leaves etc)

The only other thing it can be is the sunroof and clogged hoses. I can see the outlets on the front of the sunroof but not the rears as they tucked away.

So my question is, does anyone on here know the exit points of these hoses as if they are blocked, I will suck out the blockage??

Re. Water in rear passenger footwell

Had this prob.with my 7 series a few weeks ago and it was the vents in the engine bay blocked up. This is a common prob. with 5 and 7 series and rear passenger footwell wet
a sure sign of vents blocked just need to blow them out.
Hope this helps.

Ok so I found a little time to try and resolve the wet passenger footwell issue. As mentioned in the last post under the micro filters there are 2 drainage hoses which block up with dirt etc. I took off both micro filters and connectors, connected a hose with a pump and pumped to see if this would clear. Tested by pouring a little water onto the pan from he passenger side and yes a very little trickle came out, tried the same on the drivers side and again a very little trickle. But I thought water should pour out rather than trickle out.

Took off the wheel, took away part of the cowling and found the end of the hose and this was still blocked. I then got my finger and pulled out about a golf ball sized about of dirt, tested again with water and this time it poured out.

Anyone who experiences this issue should follow he above step, very easy fix with no cost. When I get a little time. Will take some pics and point out what needs to be cleaned and cleared.

:)

cant wait for the pics as im having this problem it started in the right front side. I then blew the tiny holes on top and then tried to suck what ever was in there with a vacuum. It worked but I noticed yesterday that the two back sides were a little wet.
