Does eco-pro mode really save?
Hi, do you feel you actually save gas by switching to eco-pro mode? I feel if I drive the comfort mode carefully, I can maximize the gas efficiency. Can eco-pro mode exceed the advertised MPG?
|
After spending $65k on my x3 I don't worry too much about fuel economy. ;)
I do sometimes like the short shifting of Ecopro. |
I realize that Eco-Pro is quite controversial here. People are so unhappy with it that they are changing the coding to remove it.
I'll be the contrarian- I have no problem with Eco- Pro. Of course it saves gas mileage- the engine is off when the car is idle for more than 5 seconds. I like spending less money on gas, now and in the future. |
I quite often use eco-pro mode for the shifting pattern and the car still scoots with a little heavier right foot. It would be stupid to code this feature away!

Answer to your question:
According to accounts from friends and family, most people don't really notice a significant benefit. However the word ECO-PRO was not designed to be a take on hybrid, so it serves its intended design well. This is additional to your question, but to expand on your question. Does the benefit that most receive from engaging the ECO-PRO profile have any negative effects on the powertrain and long-time maintenance costs on these vehicles, such as more starter cycling and other various components. My car typically indicates 4-6 kms savings per tank. Big whoop!

I also noticed a small savings of a few extra KMs per tank. Only use this feature when cruising the HWY.
