2006 650I aux input retrofit through cd changer
has anyone done this retrofit?
I don't know of any simple adapter that allows you to replace the replace the CD and end up with just an Aux input. You can have an Ipod (Iphone) adapter, they run $350 or so. There is a Dension Gateway that I believe has Aux along with Ipod functionality, it runs $450 or more. The problem is that the CD Changer is connector to the MOST bus which is Fiber Optic signal. So you have to have an Analog to Fiber Optic Digital converter of some type.
To add Aux input to your car and you are good with a DIY you could buy the Aux Input kit from BMW, take apart your center console to connect the wires, then pay the dealer to code it to your car (or learn how to code yourself). From memory the Aux In kit runs around $80, then the dealer programming runs $150 to $250, all depends on your dealer.

I once saw a post that read : unplug changer and plug in aux in place of changer but u still need to have dealer to reprogram. I am trying to find that thread again. Thanks
