540i Automatic wont turn over
 

I moved away from my beloved e39 and ended up not driving it for 4 months without a trickle charger attached. Very bad news. Now, of course the battery is dead, but even with a (hybrid) truck connected to it via jumper cables it clicks but won't turn over. I left it connected for 20 minutes or so, but that didnt change anythjng.

When I disconnect the other truck it seems like there's no juice in the battery (or at least not enough to turn on the lights).

I'm wondering if I need a new battery? Or maybe something worse like the solenoid has busted. Tried the stomp trick and haven't had any luck. What do you guys think?

Your battery is dead and probably won't hold a charge.
Jumper cables really need a good connections at both batteries to get the dead car to start.
This is even more important if the battery is dead in the car you are trying to start.
