exhaust flange gasket leak cause white smoke ?
I had a cracked manifold header a while back and I changed the header and header manifold gasket . I hadn't ordered the flange gasket as I didn't plan on breaking it at the flange...poor planning. I've since ordered the oem flange gaskets and went to replace them, but after unbolting at the flange and removing the exhaust hanger I couldn't get the exhaust pipe to drop enough to separate them at the.flange. So I just torqued it back and figured Id try again when I had better weather since i was outdoors and racing against oncoming rain. IM assuming Ill have to take the header off again to get the exhaust to break loose at the flange ??? Anyway... I've gone off on a whole other subject.... I wanna know if the gasket which is surely not doing its job now could be letting in moisture causing this plume of white smoke that's coming outta my tailpipe. I don't smell sweet coolant nor have my coolant levels dropped, but I did find oil in the holes where the plugs are. Im thinking exhaust leak = white smoke and probably vcg = oil in the plug holes ????? Or should be looking at something a little more "nasty" ??? I know it could be a number of things, but Im just asking for opinions from those of you much more familiar with these cars than I am. Oh...by the way, I just recently changed ccv so scratch that one lol. Thanks for taking the time !
