Theromstat replacement on 95 325i

Do I need to take the whole fan off in order to replace my theromstat on my 95 BMW 325i E36

Yes

Well it certainly make the job easier! Do you HAVE to? No, but it's gonna be a heck of a struggle working behind the blades, and you risk damaging the blades, too.

You should be doing a complete cooling system overhaul if it hasn't been done in the last 75K miles.

Its -15 and I need my heater. Ok 2nd question. N order to loosen the fan do I loosen it clockwise or counter clockwise.

You loosen it clockwise - it's a left hand thread. I guess as hornhospital saidit is possible to change it with out removing the fan but at least for me it's quicker to remove the fan than to fidle and fidle working around it.

basically you should try to change it before its too late.
