Were are all the chrome rims?

Come on I know its to each his own, but I am not saying gangster type wheels a nice set of tight 20" wheels in Chrome, I know brushed aluminum or Gunmetal and gloss black is the current "Whats in" But nothing beats a nice set of chrome wheels on dark color car. Would love to see some pics, Loving the Morr Concave look, am I going to be the first to get them to make me a set in chrome?

Would love to hear everyones comments and see some pics

Where they belong....not on these cars.

Supercomputers 01-18-2013 06:13 PM

Needs

I am going to have to show you how it needs to be done to look clean and tight

Nothing better then chrome wheels done the right way

Only if they are also available in spinners!

Around here, the weather plays havoc with keeping cars clean and I have noticed that there is not too many chrome wheels around... I would hav suspected it was due to the fact on how hard they are to keep clean to look good.... But I never gave it much thought in years... Certainly seems the chrome decades are behind us for now.

As far as I'm concerned, not on any cars!

Even when they were the "in" thing, I never liked chrome wheels. Not crazy about black or gunmetal either but they're better than chrome.

Exactly. This isn't a 1990 mustang with chrome dipped 5 star rims.

Supercomputers 01-18-2013 07:42 PM

I guess I will have the first set of morr in chrome! Lol

ItsTheNewGuy 01-19-2013 12:58 PM

You picked the wrong place to even ask that question. People in here think 20s are practically out of this world. Hey everyone has different tastes. I'm looking too so I'd be glad to see what you end up doing.

I had Brabus 20s on my MB CL600. They looked amazing; however, they were not chrome. I personally love 20" rims on most cars. I am debating wether or not to put 20's in liquid black on my 550i

Brooks Was Here 01-19-2013 01:38 PM

I had chrome rims back in high school but in the business world I don't think I could roll up to clients with them now.

20" looks great on the F10. The chrome era for nice cars died with the bicycle spoke type of rims in the 60s, may it never come back.

Supercomputers 01-19-2013 02:13 PM

Its all about doing them right, 20" is a lock as that is the stock size on the M5 they will look and fit perfect, I am not a big fan of going super oversized as its just to much trouble then its worth and the look becomes to much. I would also never lower the car more then .5 over stock setup that the dinan offers.

I was thinking of these

A mix of chrome and brushed looks great if you ask me,

Not sure how to post a pic so I gave you the link.

Getting pricing on these as we speak 20" for the 550i xdrive going to go with a staggered setup. Its still winter in NY so I have time. I will keep the stock 19" Msport wheels for winter.

Again all personal prefrence and has to be clean and done right, I am in manhattan 3 days a week and am very much in the corporate world guys I know love cars done right.

Again to each his own just starting some conversation.

+1 Cragar SS' on a '72 Nova. None since and none in the future.

LOL! I had one of those! '96 GT with chrome 5 Star "blade spokes".

Then I graduated. :D

Alan L. 01-20-2013 05:21 AM

The only chrome i would do is on the lip of multi piece wheels. Even then chrome isn't my ideal choice because most people go with high polish instead. My opinion, any wheel that looks good in chrome will always look better in other finishes such as brushed or polished. Chrome just looks too 80's or ghetto rapper style plus it adds a lot of weight to the wheel.

Supercomputers 01-20-2013 05:28 AM

Glad you posted Alan your car is incredible. I love your wheels what is your finish? Also if you don't mind me asking what offset did you go with? I wish I can find a member selling a gently used set like you did those wheels are perfect. I think I am going to do exactly that just like in the link I posted, aluminum brushed gloss inside and polished lip like in the photo,

Very nice work your car is one of the nicest I have seen!

Also do you have springs

FYI, 20's are not stock on the M5. 19's are.

But the visual sweet spot for this car is 20's. above that looks too big.

Alan L. 01-20-2013 05:46 AM

Thanks.

My wheels are full brushed Morr vs8.2 in 20x9F and 20x10R. They don't advertise their offsets but its pretty much flush with my fenders without any rubbing issues. I am also on ACS springs which provides a nice subtle drop without messing with the ride quality and retains my DDC feature.

Chrome 20s? Not since "Pimp My Ride" was on. Maybe on a 5 year old Scion.

Not since I was 20, and not on my BMW.

Ice350 01-20-2013 08:56 AM

I had chrome 3 piece wheels on my Lexus SC300 and agree with the op that if done right, they still look tight. My SC was often lauded by the clublexus enthusiast community as the cleanest around.
I'll post pics if anyone is interested.

HDEddie1 01-20-2013 09:52 AM

At Pepboys?

Out here (So Cal) you'll see a lot of chromes Lexus and Mercedes that the ladies drive.

Kidding aside, you might be concerned with whatever wheel you choose being heavier than your stock rims and adding unsprung weight and adversely affecting handling/braking a bit.

...as its (it's) just to (too) much trouble then (than) its (it's) worth, and the look becomes to (too) much.

Again all personal prefrence (preference).

And "Were the chrome wheels, what, exactly?
