mp3 or not

hi all.i have a 05 740i and im not sure if my radio system supports mp3 formats.i have tried putting a mp3 disc and it greyed out the cd option.please advise.

The cd changer should support mp3, but not the in-dash player.

BMW's training literature indicates MP3 support via the CD Changer wasn't introduced until the facelift version (model year 2006).
My CD Changer does not sopport it.
