Arctic Weather & Clogged Oil Separator - Repair cost?

2005 X5 3.0i 89Kmiles
Chicago area where's it's been mighty cold :jawdrop:

Wifey came home in panic telling me to come out to the garage. Heavy smoke coming out of the engine and I thought it was on fire. I opened the hood to see oil has leaked all over the engine and it's a huge mess. Took it to my trusty mechanic who thoroughly checked it out. He tells me the oil separator is clogged. He's an honest guy who usually charges very little compared to other shops.

What is the average cost for a repair/replacement like this?

2-4 hours labor, couple of hundred dollars for parts. Besides the separator you need to replace all the plastic hoses, cause the only way to remove them is to break them. Who's is your mechanic in Chicago? I live here also.

Got a quote for $425 which includes synthetic oil (8-9 qts). Would you say it's very reasonable?

Feel free to email me for the shop info. I am actually in NW suburbs.

$425 is VERY reasonable - a dealer will hit you up for $850 for this!
