You injectors are being turn off when the computer senses x numbers of misfires. This is to prevent damage to the cat. converter. By shutting down and restarting you are rebooting the computer so it will count the missfires again and once it reach a certain number of misfires it shut down the injectors and you will notice the missfire. You need to find out why you have a miss.

How did you test the coils? Did you use an ohm meter?

I had a misfire and I finally found the problem being a bad coil. The coil tested good on an ohm meter, but since I was still getting a misfire, I swap the coils to another cylinder. Misfire was still there, but the misfire moved to the other cylinder.

Brought a new coil pack at autozone, clear the trouble code and never had the SES come back on.
