rear deck lid will not lock, stay closed
 

bmw parts wanted $150-198 dollars for a truck lid latch assembly, when all I needed was the spring. So I went to the hardware store and found one that would work. $2.48

I have twice taken the stock spring that was broken at the end and using two pair of needle nose made a new loop on the end. It worked fine.
