How much do turbos limit exhaust sound?
 

I've never owned a turbo vehicle, but yesterday I made an offer for a 2013 X3 35i. I haven't heard back yet if it is being accepted. One of the things I like about the 2006 3.0i that I currently have is the aggressive sound from the straight six engine and the exhaust growl on acceleration. For those that have gone from a NA six cylinder to a turbo six, how much reduction in the exhaust aggressiveness did you notice? It's not a deal breaker by any means; just curious.

The beautiful exhaust note of the n/a six is somewhat muted but doing the golf tee mod brings the nice throaty exhaust sound back. ;)

I'm going to search this golf tee mod. I've seen it mentioned before.

If you're going to do it, pull the plug in the back and do it electronically rather than crawling underneath and actually pulling and plugging the vacuum line.
