Mundane/useless road warrior tale

I travel for work; land at O'Hare last week and go up to my assigned Avis spot. There waiting for me is a 528xi upgrade.

Trudge back to the agent in the freezing weather and tell the lady to give me a regular car. The woman almost chokes on her gum. I explain to her that I am not going to drive up to my Client site in a 5 series. Plus I get all my 5 series fun at home and don't really want to drive a 528i (of course did not tell her that). She ends up putting me in the most stripped down Malibu. Serves me right :D

Anyways, the O'Hare Avis is loaded with F10s, F30s, and a handful of X5s. Dilution of our brand?

That is hilarious!! As for dilution, that already happened when BMW sold more 5 series than its competitors!

Eh?

I actually rented an X5 in Florida from Avis. You would have to boil it down to BMW wanting the cars to get into more dirvers hands. I often look for cars that I might buy at the rental location so I can really test it out. Of course, how they're optioned will influence people's view of the car. Knowing the rental companies, they got a good deal on these to stick them into their fleet.

Pretty soon people are going to realize that they don't have to return to a BMW dealer for a brake job!

What was the problem with driving a 528i to your client???
