My first M3 Paint Question
I was just admiring my new car, and I noticed that the underside of the hood and trunk are not painted the same color as the exterior. ( silverstone)
Is this correct? The car came with a clean Carfax. Just not sure if this is any indication of any serious problem. Just not all that familiar with the M. Thanks:eek: |
I forget to mention thatthe undersides are white.
|
That is strange... Everything that's painted on my car is the same color--white. Your trunk and hood should match the rest of the car. It appears they were replaced at some point with parts from a white M3. I can't tell for certain from your pic, but do you have a carbon roof? If only the trunk and hood were replaced, it's possible your car may have had hail damage in the past, but that's just a guess.
On the underside of the hood there should be a factory sticker indicating what color your car should be. Might want to verify the engine compartment is silver while you're in there... Where did you buy the car? |
Paint Question
Thanks for the reply
The sticker under the hood is there and describes the correct paint color. Also the sub frame is white as well. I will take it to another dealer for an inspection This car is a CPO from Sterling BMW in Newport Beach, CA |
That does not sound like any BMW I've ever seen? :dunno:
|
Thanks
Thanks for the replies. I will take it to another dealer for their thoughts.
I'll post my findings, when I have more info. |
Your car is fine......that's the way it comes from the factory. The hood and the trunk are not painting on the underside. At least on SSII cars................Phil

That's good news!
Thanks for reply. This is why I need this forum :-) |
