Looking for a Hardtop & Windscreen
Hi Everyone!

I am stoked that I bought a triple black 1999 BMW M3 Convertible last Saturday. It's got a manual transmission and was a blast to drive home ~300 miles - managed to get home without a speeding ticket!! It's my 5th BMW and exactly like my first one, except this one has the M3 engine and is a manual - definite improvement!

I'm looking for a removable hardtop and a windscreen. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I start to look?

Looks like your M3 experience is similar to mine. Welcome!

VERY nice! 99 M3 vert with manual transmission is a rare combo unfortunately. Hardtops are tough to come by. If you see one for under 1k snatch it up. Usually easier to repaint one than to find the perfect match, though I've seen more black ones than other colors.

As far as windscreens, I would go on eBay. I have one but cannot part with it. It definitely makes a difference. I surprise my passengers with it quite a bit. Heated seats + windscreen = top down in the 40's. Makes for very romantic night driving :D

Top down - no matter what!
Thanks for a post that definitely made me smile! It's amazing the lengths we will go to put the top down, isn't it?! I can remember I had my '89 325iaC for about a month. I went home for holidays and mom gave me her fur coat - I put it on and dropped the top for the 3-hr drive home in 40 degree weather... got some strange looks but I grinned back like a Cheshire cat! :D

I'm no sure about a hard top, but there's a BMW M3 windscreen available.

Wow, your fifth BMW? What were the first four? I used to drive manual all of the time, but it just wasn't practical for the stop-and-go traffic in my area. I'm doing the old man thing and I got an automatic transmission, but I do miss the action of being in control with the manual.

That's actually not a bad price, but I would check eBizzle first.

Thanks for the link GrilledCheese! I checked it out and am not familiar with the Windblox type of windscreen but I DO like the price. My last one on my '89 vert was a 'Love the Drive' screen (about 3 times the price)... definitely something to think about...

I'm talking to a guy about a hardtop right now, but I will need a windscreen in a couple of months. Appreciate the info!

As for my 4 previous BMWs, I had '89 325iaC, '95 530iT, '01 328i, '02 530i... favorites were the '89 325iaC and '95 530iT (wagon was like a low profile SUV)... '01 328i had window seal issues and '02 530i felt like I was driving my grandma's car... guess that why I picked up a M3 with a stick... I feel the need for speed, can't wait to get it on a weekend track!

BMW tourings are simply amazing. I nearly bought one before my roommate slapped me hard in the face.

I'm young and single and can't be driving a family car yet, I suppose.

One day...
