Considering buying the 328i 2013
Hey guys,
I currently am looking at purchasing the 2013 328i and wondering your thoughts on it? I'm worried about future repairs and costs on it. What would you guys say are the major repairs and the costs associated with it? I currently have a Japanese car but really like this one. Someone told me there 2010 335i engine had issues and also there steering wheel, they had a bill of $8500.00 Is that normal? What can I expect to pay each year on repairs after my warranty expires? |
Sedan, coupe, convertible? If it's a sedan you should pose your question to the F30 crowd.
If not, you can't easily make the comparison between the 328 & 335 engines. Different beasts. Maybe you should search around and learn what you're after. g/l |
It's the 328i Sedan.. So what would you say the costs on it would be after warranty?
|
If it's a 2013 328i, that's the F30 model & speculating costs after warranty of a car model not 6 months into production is pure guesswork.
Your question is in front of the panel, bimmerfest friends guess away.... |
I'm not going out on a limb with this -- but any BMW with 4 wheels will cost waaaaaaaay more than a Toyota Corolla to maintain and repair out of warranty.

So OP, if you are looking for a long term investment, buy the Corolla. But if you want a driver's car, then all maintenance and repair expenses (other than tires) will be covered by BMW for 4 years or 50k miles. After that, maintenance/repairs will probably average 50% or so higher than the afore mentioned Corolla - but it's worth it! And by the way, the HPFP issues on the E90 335i have been covered by BMW with an extended warranty on that part. Tom |

Normal? No. That's low - figure $15,000 per year for maintenance. Wait....isn't that car under warranty? |

OP, research the prev gen 328i with the n52 engine. The 2013 328i (F31) is 4 cylinder and has the diesel like clatter doesnt it ? The question you have to ask yourself is - Do you want a car for fun/driving satisfaction (e9x N52) or do you want for prestige ("New fuel efficient BMW with start/stop feature, heads up display, electric steering and what not..basically the F31 that you like). Here is some pics of the N52 at this link

The OP has posted a new thread in the F30 forum.
