When is the LCI F30 coming out
 

Hi everyone..

Like the subject says, any idea when is the LCI F30 going to launch in the US? I am planning to upgrade to an F30 but I want to get the LCI version.

Model year 2016 because MY2015 will start in less than 18 months... that is too soon for an LCI, considering the F30 has only been available for sale for 12 months. 12 months + 18 months is too early for any BMW LCI. Most BMW LCIs are in the 5th model year of the 7 year cycle.

I guess I might have to wait for sometime then... My 2009 E90 has 70K miles and I am thinking to lease the F30 for 3 years or so and then buy the LCI F30 model when its out.. do you think that's a good idea or should I stick to my E90 till the LCI comes out? I'm unable to decide and need some feedback/help. I was thinking that if I keep my E90 for another 3 years I'm anyways going to loose about $4-5K. The dealer in San Diego appraised my car for trade-in at around $15K as well.

Strange choice to ask on a forum... no one knows what changes the LCI will bring. Maybe you'll hate the updated front end or lights? Maybe your car will break down next year and need $5K in repairs? Maybe you don't want a $500/mo lease payment? Maybe you really want the new F30 tech like HUD, LED DRLs, etc?

Agreed. I would say the 2012 model year doesn't really count. Both the E46 and the E90 had their LCI in their fourth model year, the E46 for model year 2002 and the E90 in model year 2009.

BMW did a weird thing by introducing the F30 as a 2012 model. It would have been expected that there would have been a short 2012 model year for the last E90/91 and then an early beginning to the 2013 model year with the F30 in calender year 2012. The way BMW did it there were actually only six model years for the E90/91, rather than the typical seven.

the E90 was released in mid 2005 as a MY 2006, LCI came out in 2008 as MY 2009

the E90 run was for 6 MY ( MY2006-MY2011) (MY 2006 and MY 2011 ran long) with the LCI in the 4th MY

bmw is going for shorter cycles these days to keep competitive.

E90 started for MY2006, and went through MY2011. 6 model years.
E92/93 started for MY2007 and goes through 2013. 7 model years.

Most other recent cars had 7 model years, including E60/E65/E70, etc.

I think your "shorter cycle" theory does not have enough examples to be used as fact ;)

the F10 LCI will be out this summer as MY 2014, the F10 was released as a MY 2011
the F25 X3 LCI will also be released this summer as MY 2014, ithe F25 was released as MY 2011
we shall see. :)

I think I'll wait for the LCI F30 and the 4 series coupe too and then decide on one of them.. I guess I'll keep my E90 till then. :thumbup:

MY 2015 will be released sometime in 2014.. still not bad, worst case 2 more years and I guess I can wait!

The MY2014 X3 begins production this April, and I think it is unlikely to be an LCI.

bmw very rarelystarts a MY in the spring unless its a new model or an LCI-- i forgot that the X3 was switching early this year. LCI X3 mules have been seen pretty much finished as of fall 2012

why do you think its unlikely other than your prior statement?

The F10 came to market three years ago in spring 2010 as a 2011 model. As is common in recent BMW LCI history 2014 will be the fourth model year of the F10.

The F30 came to market in February 2012 as a 2012 model. Fall 2014 will come approximately 30 months after the F30 first came to market. It is EXCEEDINGLY UNLIKELY that the LCI will be introduced that soon after the initial model launch. A much safer and more reasonable bet is that the LCI will come as a 2016 model sometime between spring and fall 2015.

The F25 X3 came to market two years ago this month, February 2011. It is highly unlikely the LCI will be brought to market so soon barely two years after its initial launch.

In the spring of 2010 BMW changed virtually every model early to model year 2011, including all of the 3 Series models.

The F25 has been on a March/April production cycle switchover for a couple of years now.

LCI mules are typically spotted a full year before introduction, and we've only seen a single F25 LCI tester, just a few months back.

It also makes more sense for a refreshed F25 to debut alongside the new X4, which we know won't be for MY2014.
