H & R vs RD Sport Lowering Springs
 

Anybody have any info or done either of these mods on their 7 series? I'm especially interested in the H & R's and ride quality. Thanks!!

Also interested in hearing how these cars take to lowering. I had an S550 with an air ride control module in it - destroyed my front fenders, shocks and ate up the inside of my tires in a few thousand miles, haha.

I know my cousin had a 2010 750i with H&R springs. He said the ride was fine but didnt like the drop as much (wasnt as low as he wanted). He bought the H&R Sport Springs that lowered it a bit more. He sold the car so looks like I might just inherit me some Sport Springs ;)

I had the H&R sport springs installed on ours (an alignment/toe adjustment). An absolute requirement on the x-drive IMO since the car felt as high as an SUV.

Car now looks like it should (1"1/2 lower) and drives as before...

Dropping a car without adjusting the toe will do that (plus Mercedes dealers like to under inflate tires during service which accelerates the wear). Had the same happening to me (a nice set of Bridgestone RE050's destroyed in 3k miles...Lesson learned

For ride quality, comfort now feels like sport and sport is about 2x as hard as it was stock. I'm always in sport unless on my way home from costco.

Thanks for the info... I ordered my set today and should be installed in a few weeks when I get back from vacation... Will post pics! Planning on keeping my stock 20's for now so wheel wells won't be as filled out as on your ride (Nice btw) but I really like the dropped look on your 7!

The stock M-sport 20" wheels look really good after the drop. Makes the entire car look "correct". Thanks...

Labor install cost
 

Got the H & R springs but was quoted like 800 bucks for labor, does this sound right?

That's a little high. I paid about that for labor and springs.

Agree with CABimmerNation... Mine are being installed this week and I was quoted around $400 in labor +/- alignment... there could also be issue with the camber as this is no longer adjustable but corrected with small, medium, or long "rods" which they say are expensive. I will advise on the alignment issue later this week.

How are you guys plan on warranty repairs? Wouldn't H&Rs void warranty on the suspension? I am looking to do this but afraid they'll void my CPO.

Talked to my dealer before installing my new suspension. They claimed at the time only things that would be directly related to lowering the car would be voided by warranty. Have also talked to friends that have had their 7's lowered and they claim never having any issues regarding warranty claims. Warning, your results may vary...

Got the springs installed and here is how it looks... Sorry pics aren't the best but give an idea. Car going for alignment and headlight adjustment next.

This is my first post (er, reply) and happy to be joining the forum! I picked up a 2010 750i w/M-sport package from Beverly Hills BMW about a month and just getting around to posting on the board.

I love the car and am getting used to its size, which is still a bit of a challenge. I love the ride, comfort, technology, etc. I put 22" Avant Gard wheels with Pirelli tires and added 3M Crytalline tint (did the 40 all around and might be too dark?)

I am am anxious/nervous to add the H&R Sport Springs, but am really concerned about the suspension. It sounds like those who have done it haven't had any problems and maybe I am being paranoid. I have a quote from Auto Talent here in LA to do the hard install for $600 for parts and labor.

Will also be wanting to add the update for the BMW aps as I want Pandora, etc.

does your 7 have the air suspension in the rear? how did you get around that?

The H&R Spring kit for the 750LixX includes 2 springs for the front suspension and 2 regulating rods for the rear. The H&R kits are specific to the exact vehicle, in our case the 750LiX.

The kit is different for other versions of the 750

The 750i does not have air suspension, springs all 4 corners.

CABimmerNation - thank you for sharing comments and your experience. I noticed that the 22" are rubbing on tight parking, so am wondering if I have the H&R Sport springs installed I will make it worse? I love the car and really want to lower it, so maybe I just need to bite the bullet and have the guys at Auto Talent do the hard install......decisions, decisions!

I think maybe your offset is wrong. Mine have never rubbed, stock or lowered. Gotta believe that if they rub now, it's only going to get worse when lowered. I would find a good shop that knows their **** and pay them to get that thing correct.

I spoke with Shawn at Shoreline and he basically said the sme thing you did regarding the offset. He said get the offset right before even thinking of lowering the car. I will be taking it back to Mark at Nitrous Garage for some fine tuning on the wheels........all good and someday I might get it close to as nice as your ride. Cheers!!

Found a pair of used H&R springs for a f01.will the fronts work for the f02 750li. Please reply ASAP. Trying to meet up with the guy in the morning.

Presumably the front springs are the same for all the 750's, but the Li car should have self leveling rear which requires rear leveling rods and not rear springs. The correct kit for your application is Part #: 28999-5. For more info go to;
