Vanos

Will the vanos unit from a 97 328 work on a 94 325i?

afaik, they are the same part(s) m50/m52 as long as they are not euro specn parts. i do not know what the difference would be, though i doubt we'd be coming across any euro spec vanos units without the rest of het euro-spec engine...

just my thoughts, though.

They have different part numbers between M50 and M52.

Could that just be from an improved unit? I know that's usually the case with parts that have gone through major updates.

no doubt, but when looking up replacement parts, it appears that they are both interchangeable.

besides, if they were different, then we wouldn't be able to 'upgrade' cams from an //M motor to a non //M motor.

i could probably manage to snap a few pic of the m50 andd m52 vanos housings and solenoids as i have both (one is @ the farm, so it wouldn't be until tomorrow at the earliest) just to be sure.
