burnt rubber smell
 

i have an '04 330xi. every once and awhile i smell burnt rubber when i have the defroster on. noticed it only after car has been running for awhile, then it goes away. any ideas?::confused:

Almost always oil leaking from the VCG. Inspect the likely areas thoroughly.

i'll check this weekend. i did take it for a spin weds.. figures i didn't smell a thing. i did notice the other day that there were seeds in engine compartment likely from a chipmonk. do you think the seeds were heating up? i didn't think they were near enough to do that. will clean them out also.
