Orange and black engine light

Hello my names Roy new to this, I recently bought a 318 petrol 2006 and last nite a light came on looks like a engine half yellow half black when I checked for a code, CC-id 29 came up Doesn't seem to of lost any power any ideas what the problem could be or shall I get a diagnostics check done. Thanks in advance for any help

Unfortunately, CC ID 29 is a generic "Hey, there's a problem", so there's a limit to what kind of advice you can get from a distance.

I can't speak with certainty about a 2006, but if it were a 2009, a yellow MIL would indicate you are in "limp" mode, with engine output restricted. I would think a diagnostic visit to the dealer would be warranted if you don't have the means to pull the detailed codes yourself.

Yellow lets you drive to the dealer or indy and get it checked. If it were red, you would want to stop driving the car.

Thanks Zooks I have booked the car in for a diagnostics tomorrow, I have also had the AA out to have a look at it ,his prognosis was take it for a diagnostic, said it could be something to do with VVT. Will let you know the outcome.

You should go deeper to reveal the mystery that is your engine.

Bavarian Technic

Perhaps an explanation here, though a match may raise more issues than it answers.
