My 94 325i is bouncy what should I do?
I have a 94 325i and its bouncy as all hell what is the best course of action?
|
Details please. Can you describe the bounce? Or when it does it? And I assume that you're not speaking about the engine RPMs.
|
It's bounces all over the road at virtually any speed just rocking back and fourth. It sometime bounces very high and slams to the ground pretty violently

if you are talking about the idle, then try cleaning the icv.
if the car itself, as in when going over bumps, then check the struts and shocks. if there is any sort of banging or hard clunking, then you may have additional parts damaged that may not be related to the shocks or stuts. it is just difficult to say based upon your description. df |
I'm sorry, it's just while driving that it bounces its hard to control at high speed 55+

Replace your struts & shocks. You probably need all new bushings, control arms, tie rods, and everything else, too. If your car is so bouncy at 55mph that you can barely control it, it sounds like it's barely safe to be on public roads.
|
Check the shock towers too while you're replacing the shocks and struts and bushings. If you see any cracks or separation, find yourself an alignment rack and a very good welder. Then a wallet to pay for the repairs.

Struts and shocks....could be just struts. Push down quick and hard on front corner and see if it does up and return to level...same on each side (and rear if doubt the shocks). Old rule is should be "no more than 1-1/2 movements. If more stuts or shocks are bad and you are depending on springs to absorb road bumps....and they will bounce if no good shocks and/or struts. e-bay actually has some reasonably good deals...autohausaz.com.
Local Parts Stores are usually a bit pricey...you drive a BMW!!!! |
