Newbie - X5 Bluetooth problem - have searched but not found answer
I have a 2004 facelift X5 e53 and have had problems trying to pair it on bluetooth.
I have the passcode, and have tried the pairing process outlined on the forums, but no lights appear on my monitor tho I do get Activate Phone on the monitor.
My phone does not pick up any bluetooth device, and I have tried other phones to no avail.
I bought the iphone4 charger unit for the centre console and it does not appear to be getting any power to the centre console (which may explain why the button for the pairing also does not work)
I know the previous owner installed rear headrest tvs and it was a bit of a mess in the centre console. My husband removed them but we cannot get the bluetooth to work.
So far we have had the BM54 repaired as only had one side of speakers - wondered if bluetooth somehow ran via or through that. Fixed that - still nothing.
Bought replacement bluetooth unit - thinking maybe the old one also had issues - still no joy.
Bought replacement head unit - still no joy.
Is there a fuse for the centre console anywhere or something common that we could check as to why there appears to be no power to the centre console. The heater controls in the rear work on that unit however the cigarette lighter and other buttons do not appear to.
Dont know if any of this helps someone knowledgeable work out what might be wrong - hope I havent waffled too much :)
What is your X5's build date...if it is AFTER 10/04...you don't need the pairing button in the console...just go to the bluetooth/wireless settings in your smartphone & follow the pairing instructions below:
TIP: KL R & KL 15 = ignition position 1 & position 2
thanks for the reply. The build date will be before 10/04 as otherwise in the UK that would be a 54 reg I believe.
I have tried the ignition positions etc and pairing on phone- my phone does not find any bluetooth devices and no lights appear on the car monitor.
I have tried other phones also - a nokia 3210 - but neither my iphone4 or the nokia found the car.
Previous owner said bluetooth did work but then stopped and he didnt know why.
it does have bluetooth as the previous owner confirmed it did work, and also we have the old unit it came with and the new unit we bought to replace it in case it wasnt functioning, plus both units passkeys
