Our new addition.

Traded in the 09 X3, got very frustrated with it. Leak from the vapour barriers, which led to some other complications.

Traded it in for a used 2012 35i, wow what a difference. An absolute rocket..Ride quality, handling etc. is so much better...

Our dealership was amazing, cant say enough about our experience.

Very nice. It's got the 28i's wheels on it. Wonder what they did with the originals? (Unless that is what comes standard on the 35i in Canada)

Driving it the last few days highway city combined is averaging 11litters/100

Really? i didn't realize. it is an early 2012 model, could that be it?

Those are the correct wheels for the non-M-sport.

Out driving today and no buyers remorse here.. Love it, so much better that the 09! completely different vehicle..

So we have had the car 2 weeks and really are enjoying it...a blast to drive, upwards of 30 mpg highway.

We took the car to the dealer today to have the protection package applied..we go pick the car up and as we are pulling into the lot we notice an ambulance and police. And our new x3 in the middle of it all... t boned as the detailer was pulling it back into the lot after detailing and protection package..

Extensive damage to the passenger side front fender and door... I would say $4000 damage. Not sure what will happen next, but I don't really want the car anymore.

Wow, what a turn of events. I would hold the detailer or the dealership fully responsible and ask for a new used car or your money back. The detailer was probably having a little too much fun with your car and a bit careless. There is really no excuse for mistreating a customer like that as far as I am concerned.

So very sorry to hear about the fate of your new vehicle. We all feel your pain. Get yourself a good lawyer.

Wow. Very sorry to hear about that turn of events. These cars seem really hard to come by used and in good shape.


These are the standard wheels for the 35i in Canada. Seems the 28i and 35i have switched wheels compared to the US, I noticed this one day when I found myself on the bmwusa website.

I happen to like these ones better though, so I'm glad my 35i came with this style.

Make sure you get the depreciated value of the car out of the insurance company, ie, $4K for damages and $3K for the depreciated value of the car.

Here is the outcome...

Full refund on our car, and and new x3 at cost. Will most likely take the deal and go for a new Msport...

I think it is a very reasonable offer....

It sounds like a great outcome for you. I was sad on your behalf when I read your above post about the damage, but I was thinking that in the end BMW would make you whole. They've treated me very, very well over the years especially with any problems I've had and been upfront with me that at their kind of price point it is a lot harder to find a new customer than keep a loyal one. It was hard to believe they'd leave you hanging as a dissatisfied customer. Congrats on a great deal.

Sounds (almost) good to me. There's one element missing. What are you going to drive in the meantime?

Does anyone have any input on the Msport? Packages, etc???

The msport is primarily an appearance package as most on the mechanical bits are available on non msport models (at least in the USA).

The exception being performance control and the sport transmission. The latter may also be available on packages in the US.

In Canada I was required to opt for the msport to get the seats, paddles, anthracite headliner, and sport trans.

Edit: I just noticed you are north of the border... Ya need the msport for the fun bits. ;)

Ok, here is the outcome..

Our dealer gave us a full refund on our 12 a 35i and we went ahead and bought a 2013 M Sport..should be here in a few weeks..
