BMW Z3 1.9L Exhaust?

Spring is here, snow is melting. I'm planning on buying aftermarket exhaust for my 1.9L Z3. Does anybody know what is a good exhaust for the 1.9L engines?:dunno: I was thinking on a quad tip Eisenmann or a Universal Borla muffler. I was also looking at the supersprint exhaust.

Supersprint sounds just right on a 1.9, and looks good, too...

do they fit in the cutout of the bumper or was there "shaving" that had to be done?

Mine was fine, no shaving (single tip) http://i898.photobucket.com/albums/a...GOPR0424_3.jpg

I think any dual tip exhaust that is designed for the Z3 ail fit in the bumper cutout. The Supersprint does, but a generic Magnaflow dual tip muffler might not. Enlarging the cutout is not as simple as shaving it because the plastic turns in around the opening. The cutout must be enlarged by cutting.

I went with custom exhaust 2.5 in pipe with magnaflow muffler and it sounds good on my 1.9. I have heard super sprint and ddnt sound as good as magnaflow

Got a Magnaflow 14815, dual tip stainless steel, universal muffler, then had a local muffler shop do the installation and remove the resonator. It cost me $175 for the labor and my Z3 sounds fantastic. I also asked the installer to cut and flange my stock pipe so I can re-install the stock muffler and resonator myself, if I ever sell the car.
$200 for the muffler (Pepboys)
$175 install
Total $375 ... not a bad deal

The Supersprint is probably quieter than the Magnaflow, and does not drone at speed.

Has anybody heard of the Eisenmann Quad Tip exhaust for the 1.9? It does require some modifications. Does anybody think it would be too loud? All I'm looking for is an exhaust that I hear and listen to the music at the same time. I don't want anything too loud or too quiet. I have heard of the Magnaflow 14815 and a lot of people have been saying it is way to loud. I have been doing some research and my decision is getting close the the Supersprint. :) However, im still questioning about the Eisenmann because not a lot of people seem to know about those exhausts for the 1.9. On youtube there is a video of the quad tip and it sounds awesome. I just don't know if it would be too loud? :dunno:

i know which video you are talking about (and yes it sounds amazing), but i can't help but think that the eisenmann might be a little on the load side as well( and it might even be a dual tip with the right couple being fakes because if you look at when the car is turned on only the left couple shakes). I have made up my mind on getting the supersprint dual exhaust and i think its going to be a good purchase.

I can still listen to music and enjoy the sound of the Magnaflow at the same time, but most of the time, I choose to listen to the exhaust notes of the Magnaflow all by itself.

There is probably a reason that nobody knows. I don't see how that exhaust for a 6-cylinder would fit on a 1.9. It would require removal of the 1.9's spare tire carrier for the right muffler, maybe the battery well would still be in the way, special hangers would have to be devised, and a cut would have to be made in the right side of the bumper. An exhaust system that is made to handle the output of 3.0 liters might sound odd on 1.9 liters.

Yeah true. Ok, Supersprint it is then.:)
