Tire change before lease end Question

I have 32 K miles:D on the car and 11 months to go on 12K/36 mo lease:eek:. I will be extending the current lease for at least 6 months with BMWNA. I want to do second ED in summer so will extend the lease that expires in March 2014 to August 2014.

By that time, the car will have have around 40-42 K miles on it and likely require new tires upon lease return. I wonder if I should change the tires now and use (around 10K miles) a portion of new tires before returning it!!:dunno:

Need opinion re: approach to this situation. ALSO, Do I have to replace tires with same company or any company with same specs (i.e: all-season, run flats, 17" )

Thanks.

I had a similar situation on an Infiniti a few years ago. I tried to milk the original tires to the end but didn't make it. I wished I had changed them out earlier. It all depends on how much tread you have left.

Tire change before lease end Question

You can buy used ones from a junk yard or somewhere else way cheaper and return the vehicle to the dealer ;)

How is the tread currently? If you think it they are adequate for turn in, then get a new set of non-run flats now... and put the run flats back on before you turn it in. You can either sell or reuse the non RFT.

If you are buying a new BMW, run them into the ground if you can. If BMW CPOs your car they will put new tires on it. Also, I have had very good luck with my dealer when buying a new BMW in the same situation, I told them I will buy new run flat junks {they must must have them} on to SELL the car, they buy me a set of non-RFTs for my new car when it arrives. RFTs are the worst. And if you are not getting a new BMW... well do what most dealers do to you...

The tread currently is about 4/32". I plan to drive another 10-12K miles.

Also, will putting non RFT from some company affect warranty in any way?
