2001 BMW X5 Issue with Blower

My girlfriend has a 2001 X5 and got to my place after work and noticed the blower was still going after she turned off the ignition. After reading various threads on the forums, we figured the issue was the FSU/FSR. We called all around town and the only place that had one was the dealership (at a ridiculous price) so she decided she would rather have the issue fixed today instead of waiting a few days for an auto shop to get the part in and have to deal with a dead battery. I got the FSR, switched it out with the old one, but it still continues to blow after the car is shut off. Right now the FSR is unplugged so as to keep the battery from draining. Can anyone please help/advise me on what the next step should be to get this issue resolved.

Thank you much.

Could be a bad climate control module...is it displaying any other symptoms? Display out, can't change settings while the engine is running, etcetera?

I read somewhere online that some people have been able to get the blower to stop running when they locked the car from the outside...not sure what one has to do with the other, but it's worth a try I guess.

I have the same issue, I found this thread and others stating the issue was the FSU, I purchases one for $110 and it worked fine for the first three days, now on the fourth day the fan does not shut off.

Everything works with the AC, lighting, climate control adjustments, front & rear air, and it blows nice and cold, but when I shut the engine off, the fan is still running. I see from other threads this issue is going to kill my battery soon, so hopefully someone has a fix for this issue.

Well that didn't take to long, about 10 hours and the battery is dead. Atleast my wife was at home when it died. A neighbor helped her jump start the X5 but I made sure they removed the fuses for the Air Conditioner, and fuses 75 and 76 for the Air Blower.

Fuses 75 and 76 are large fuses 30 and 40 Amp, that connects to relays to the Climate Control. The 30Amp Fuse if utilized when the Climate Controls are the halfway position and lower. When the Climate Controls are in positions higher than half then the power is routed to the 40 Amp Fuse and different relays.

It couls be an issue with the FSU, but it sounds more like a relay issue. Tomorrow I will take it to an Air Conditioner Specialist and see how much it going to break me.
