Painting Parking Sensors

Has anyone painted a front or rear parking sensor before? Just wondering if you bothered with a coat of plastic primer or not. I scratched the paint on the fried parking sensor to check if there was a layer of primer/undercoat under the lacquer/paint layer but it didn't look like it. Was just the black plastic underneath. The car is 12 years old so if this is the case, then the paint job stood up well enough. Just wondering what other people have done when they've painted their parking sensors. I'm picking up some paint/lacquer from the stealer tomorrow. Cheers.

I have plasti-dip over them and they still work fine

Thanks. Is that Plasti-Dip Primer or did you just use one layer of Plasti-Dip paint?

I ordered the Alpina touch up stick from the stealer and it arrived without a lacquer bottle. The stealer told me that I could use any lacquer. Does that sound right? Unfortunately the paint wasn't available in a spray can apparently, otherwise that would have been much better. Cheers!

plasti-dip is actually spray on plastic, the coat is probably thicker than both primer and paint.
but, I'm not sure how the densities compare.

I'm pretty sure others have painted their PDC sensors with actual paint and not had negative effects.
