G'day FOLKS,

Me again with another query to an old reply I asked many many moons backs..... It seems that I am still having a BA5TARD of a time with the steering column being in the ALL OUT position making for a squeeze to get into and driving the car.... I have since stripped the covers from the column and found the once hidden lever...... pulling lever towards the wheel allows for marginal slop and pushed towards pedals locks it in place.... in the diagram of the exploded view of the column..... SUSPECT #1 is the culprit of the problem as I am being informed some time back..... now is this an opposite thread to release or normal, this MONGREL is tight as and any info as to how to loosen would be helpful.... use of CRC & WD40 still will not let it go????????

Thanks

Stephen

Sorry but the normal way is the only way use a big wrench.

I've been using a product called "CRC Freeze-Off" lately with pretty good results; try some of that. :dunno:

Appreciate the quick reply DUDES!!!!!! Unfortunately a bigger wrench or shifting spanner makes it that little bit more harder due to the awkward position it is to get at the MONGREL!!

As for the CRC freeze off spray, never heard of it but might go to auto shop to suss out

Thanks again with a smile

Best and cheapest is ATF and acetone (trust me). The 32mm nut is rh thread. Even if you only get a fraction of a turn at a time use the biggest weapon you can get in there. NOT Stiltsons - they will crush it. Try a secondhand tool shop maybe???

Again thanks for your reply,

Glad I caught this before attacking the column again as I just got my hands on a pipe wrench and was trying again....... PHEW!!!! lucky..... now not wanting to be a nuff nuff but what is meant by the ATF and acetone.... figured acetone being nail polish remover but what method is to used with these......

more info please...... i don't want to wreck the column in any way possible...

Thanks
Stephen
