Warranty cover broken fog light lense?

Hi everyone, I just got my BMW x3 28i, but obviously a rock hit the right fog light on high way, I doubt if the warranty covers it but it doesn't hurt to ask. Anyone knows if its not covered under warranty how much it might cost to replace the Lens? Or maybe the warranty will cover it? Thanks!

Warranty is definitely not going to cover it. Someone else on the forum who had the same thing happen said it cost them $250 to have it replaced.

Thanks! I thought its just the lens maybe I could replace it myself. By $250 seems only professional could fix it though...

see if your insurance would cover and if your deductible is less than 250

Sorry, but you own the road damaged fog lamp lens. There are sometimes things that an SA can and will find a way to stretch into Warranty coverage, but road damage to a fog lamp lens isn't likely one of them.

Thanks a lot! Do you happen to know where I could find a DIY instruction? Searched on YouTube, no luck.

I hit a truck tire recap in my M3 some years ago. The insurance adjuster asked me if the tread was moving when I hit it on the highway, or stationary. It was moving, and as a result, the damage was covered under comprehensive (no deductible). If it would have been stationary, it would hav been covered under collision (deductible).
Obviously this rule does not cover moving/statioary vehicles, and I'm not sure if it covers rocks, but it could not hurt to check.

Anybody an insurance pro out there?

Leochiu,

It looks like there is a metal clip holding it onto the bumper:

Did i not read that correctly on a mobile version, but thats just the housing, is the front cover glass included? I think thats what the OP was asking for no?

Ive had to replace glass on other car fogs, but usually sold as one kit, x3 can come separate?

Any one make a plexi glass vs that can withstand higher debris impact?

Usually the housing includes the lens. If you want to protect against debris, there are laminates you can buy online for the lens.
