that looks like a awsome device to do your own seals would it work for the m54 3.0i engine or is it specific for the n62? haven`t had to do seals in the 3.0 i yet but you never know.

It's awesome how these AGA finds ways to save labor hours on these major repairs for the N62 engine.

Wow!
I just ordered the N62 timing tools and the overhead valve spring compressor to replace my valve seals on my 6er. I should have seen this first.

I wonder if I call up AGA if they would be able to have a version of the tool they can sell me.
I want to replace my valve seals but shudder at the idea of removing the camshafts and adjusting the timing.

Update!!!
With the camshaft still in the engine, it looks like AGA is using a spring compressor tool to push down on the valve spring retainer.
They then slide out the rocker arms from under the camshaft, of course, the cam lobes are out of the way to freely remove the rocker arms.
With the rocker arms out, they can then freely compress the springs and remove the valve collets. (Bear in mind, the cylinder needs to be under pressure with compressed air at this point.)
After the collets are removed, the valve springs can then be taken out and give access to the valve stem seals.
At this point, AGA can then remove the old valve stem seal and replace it.
Next, install in reverse.

By the way, I posted a link on this forum a while back that showed how Sean750 did this procedure on a BMW V12 engine a while back.
Here it is: http://bmwe32.masscom.net/sean750/Va...eplacement.htm

I plan to do this procedure starting 11/18/2013 since my car needs to be smogged by the end of 11/2013.

Just thought I'd share what AGA's tool is probably going to do. They are very innovative. This guy is proud, passionate and actually patents his inventions for BMW repairs. :)

Are you going to wait for AGAs tool or pull your cams? You can pay your registration and smog it later.

I am on the list to buy this tool. Should be shipping in 3 weeks. I'll let you all know how it goes.

@ A B Able Truck:
Yes, I just placed myself on the waiting list to order the tool as well.
Yep, I will pay the CA registration fees and get the smog later.
I was quoted $680 for the tool by Katie from All German Auto today.
I also plan to get the N62 Secondary Air injection cleaning tools.

I'll be so happy to get these issues taken care of in the next few weeks!

However, this always happens to me:
As soon as I try to take on a project, something new comes out...lol.

So, I have to cancel my eBay orders for the N62 timing tools and the overhead valve spring compressor. :D

Looking forward to AGA sending me an email or giving me a call to place the order.

I wonder if the price on the repair is going to to decrease now? I need mine replaced as well and I'm not one to attempt this job.

Should decrease to well under $2,000 as techs become familiar with the tool. That's why I'm on a mission to get the word out. We N62 owners have been abused long enough.
