light change/repair onboard computer
i have a 1987 325is and so far i have found any regular maintainance/repair activity pretty straitforward thanks to my bently's manual, however,i just lost illumination to the display of my onboard computer and that is something not well covered in the manual.all fuses test good and if i illuminate the display w/an outside light source display is functioning any suggestions?
If you have the OBC that calculates gas milage and all that, then what you need is the OBC light bar. www.bavauto.com sells it for about $25, your local dealer will be somewhere around that price too. You should change the keypad bulb while you're at it, as it's only like $1.
I would type a guide up but it's already been done time and time again. Basically you'll be coming at it from the right side of the console (passenger kick area) -- OBC is held in by 4 screws. Remove the screws, pull the OBC, change the light bar, and then put everything back together.
