I don't know that you can really check them, but it's located in the lower coolant hose near the radiator. The sensor itself is less than $20. Might be worth a shot before you replace the water...

Re: 07 530 xi 96,000

I have the same car as you - same color and everything - but I only have 70k on mine. Bought it at 50k. I change the oil every 7500. I had to do the front brakes at 62k. Easy job. Only problem...

Re: service engine soon (SES) and overheating

I would clear the O2 (lambda) codes and see if they return. If the car has been sitting a while it may be because of that. Get some fresh gas, put some miles on it and check again. They're almost...

Re: Which 5 Series?

I'm going to take a different path... I'd look for a 530i sport w the 6 speed. 255 HP in the 530 and no worrying about turbo, coil, or HPFP issues. I've put 20k on my XI in almost a year and have...

I had the same problem this morning. It was snowing and wet here so I feared for the worst, but the spare tire area is bone dry. The RDC module looks fine as well (no signs of previous damage). I...

Brake Pad Wear Sensor

The service warning for the front brakes (condition based monitoring) just started going off. I checked the pads and it looks like they still have a good amount of material left. I'm probably going...

Thanks for the info on the trans options. I wasn't sure what the early E60s had in them. As far as the mechatronic issue, the issue is the sleeve more often than the mechatronic unit itself,...

Do you have a late 2005? 04-05 525 had the M54, so that's why you're seeing parts for it. If you do indeed have the N52 you could probably just use 2006 for the year and look it up...

I'm pretty sure it will have a radiator with plastic sides. Check where the top hose connects to it. That's where they crack most often.

I'm not sure which trans the earlier 525s and 530s use....

Same situation with mine. My E39 has 191K on it now and the only real issues I've had with the motor have been cooling related. I did have to do the valve cover gasket recently, but that's normal...

Welcome! The 2004 (and 2005) 525 and 530 had the M54 motor, which was carried over from the previous generation (E39) and used in the E46 3 series as well. The M54B25 in the 525 doesn't have a lot...

Mine does. Although calling it a subwoofer is pretty ridiculous. Not much low end from it. It's in the trunk, right side, behind the removable panel and just above the battery. I agree - very...

For a single guy with no family, I would go for a 3 series. He might be able to find an E46 in this price range, but it'll probably need some work and it'd be an early version. His best bet might...

How does the i-drive determine how many miles are left on the pads? Is it strictly mileage/usage based or does it use the wear sensor in the caliper?
