True, but why can't the DME use it as On/Off status. I have seen these purge code on I6, and from my own experience it has always been the purge valve is the culprit.

Yea that rhythmic thumping on the floor was a torture. The frequencies is dependent of your heat temp settings.

I have to open it up one of these day and see how the valve is driven open/close.

I think your son did the right thing by enlarging the hole, tell him to enlarge some more so it will be at the least 1/16"...
