First change the power steering pump to the LF20 pump in place of the LF 30 you have now and change the pressure hose from the pump to the rack....

You can clean the filter but I just change them since they are so cheap.

Best way to know if its a moisture problem is to slide the head unit out and see if the case has condensed water on it. Seems to be the favorite place for the water to condense at.

Ive seen moisture in the head unit do that. Most bmw's are bad about letting water in. Most of the time you don't notice it other than your windows might fog up inside when parked with the windows up...
