I think Some members were confused about the mileage of the car. OP bought at 65k, put on 90k, so now it's 155k.

If it was still on the original cooling system, then it was way past due.

It's fine. Same thing happened to me. Being an OEM meant they may have stamped an BMW logo on it, and they need to scratch that when selling it to you.

Thank you, Bluebee. I think I will be reusing the end cap on my M54 then since my new one doesn't come with one. If I didn't find one there, I'll just devise some way to plug it.

Oil leaked in these locations splatters around in vehicle movement, so trying to guess where leaked oil comes from is hard.
