The old fan is a cheap aftermarket part of DEPO brand. I believe it gave up its ghost after several months. That's why I opted for BMW this time.

It's already taken care of when I changed the alternator a year ago. Installed some kind of mesh at the air duct for the alternator.

So, I recently moved to CA from Chicago. To provide a data point for future comparison, my 2002 530i averaged 29.7 mpg. I've been extra cautious when on the road and most of the times cruised around...

Thanks for all the advice. I already ordered new tires. Should be able to get the old tires replaced in a week or so. Will try to stay away from driving the car.

The tires are Michelin MXM4...
