That only works on map light cars. The plate that the mirror pops in to is riveted in place and the rivets can get worn out. You could weld the plate in place.

expect alot of leaks if your going to be cutting. You'd be better of cutting the rear panel off an 88+ and welding it in. I've seen that done.

91 318is for an autocrosser. Its a few hundred pounds lighter then a 325i which means the world in autocrossing. If your not going to get a 318 then get an 87-90 325is

i'd go woth an is front lip and smoked turn signals or some euro bumper trim and smoked signals. But the lip will be the bigger bang for the buck.

For 4 grand i'd expect the car to need nothing but oil changes for at least 3 years. If you don't mind getting your hands a little dirty you can get one for about 2 grand just to get yourself in one...
