Second that based on my experience with my son's 528i....check the fuel pressure at the rail.... If you are down to 15-20 psig that's the problem....

New fuel pump cleared all those codes .

I just helped a gal out in parking lot who had the same symptoms.... Everything checked out.... Turned out her key chip was not enabling the ignition system. If you have a second key, try it.

You need 50 psig minimum at the fuel rail Schroeder valve . Less than that and you will get symptoms like you are having .

Fuel pump or maybe fuel filter .

I know time is money for you... But you need to give the engine some soak time .... It will not hurt it to leave it in for awhile . Dumping it in a few hours may not do it.

In theory I understand what you recommend.... But in practice , if careful, you can feel them all fall into place .... Then the VC bolts act just like the coil bolts. What am I missing ?

Each of those " little bolts" had a stepped landing... So there was no way to over tighten. I did use the staggered righting sequence though . Lots of bolts and nuts to remove. I was very surprised...
