You have about .5 degree of adjustment on the front if you remove the alignment pin. I don't know how much you'll gain by lowering 1.5" up front, but maybe some creative google searches can help with...

I can tell you there are no hoses under the hood that just pop off. It's safe to say you did not knock something off without knowing it. Throw it in the spare parts bin for another time. :-)

Try the tuning tips. When you set the LPF too high, the subs are trying to reproduce mid-range frequencies and don't give you the punch you want... those frequencies are lost in the trunk...
