I used a mishimoto radiator. its slightly thicker so some mods may need to be done to the fan shroud but other than that i was quite pleased when i had to replace mine with all aluminum.

I'm not sure what it does if the temp is hot when it loses water and starts sensing air. Does it drop immeadiately or does it realize what is going on and just stay high.

I dont know that I did not over heat the engine. once the fluid is gone the temp gauge does absolutely nothing so i could have been idling at the light with no fluid for all i know...
