In the case of my whistling 318, the cause was the final drive, rear diff replaced, noise GONE! Happy days.

I'm familiar with wear patterns for over/under inflation but thought maybe run flats were different, because these tyres have been kept at the manufacturers recommended pressure, I check them myself...
